    We are very fortunate to have one charity shop open all year, one in Svoronata, thanks to Katerina Lorenzatos Makris of Spicy Stories fame, and another open in the winter months courtesy of a shop owner in Skala.   • June 2012 - Jubilee Bazaar & Coffee Morning 08/07/12

    A total of 717€ was raised towards the neutering program at the bazaar and coffee morning held at Dum Spiro’s taverna in Svoronata. In addition to this amount, ARK made 159€ towards the food costs.   • 2011 - 2012 Winter Fundraiser 21/12/11

    Our first winter fundraiser was held on 12th November. We organised a bazaar in the town hall in Argostoli working with ARK who run the shelter. The day was a great success with ARK raising €800 and KATs raising €1,507. ARK will use their funds to feed the dogs and for some more building materials and KATs will use theirs for neutering.   • Quarantine changes for animals travelling to the UK 01/12/11

    Defra have at last made the decision to bring the UK into line with the rest of the EU and quarantine for dogs and cats will cease on 1st January, 2012. The rules will then mean that a dog or cat can enter the UK 21 days after the rabies vaccination, no blood test will be required.  The animal still needs a microchip, passport and worm treatment, this is the same as the rest of the EU.   • ARK/KATs coffee morning 22/10/11

    On 18th October Angela and Geoff kindly organised a coffee and cake morning to raise some money to help out ARK. On sale were refreshments consisting of many delicious cakes that were donated and the coffee and tea.  Books were selling like ‘hotcakes’, with the other odds and ends brought to be sold it was a very successful morning.     There is now a shelter in Argostoli, they currently have around 150 dogs and several cats. Most of these dogs have just been abandoned in the town centre and on the industrial estate. Several people have given their time to help out, and one of the most important jobs is the inevitable poo patrol.
